In 1884 Samuel C. Dyke mass-produced the world's first — a
clay marble. His factory in Akron, Ohio,
The American Marble & Toy Manufacturing Company,
made and shipped a million marbles a day. They also made a
whole line of penny toys, cat and dogs, ladies shoes and
men's boots, little brown jugs and more. These were the
first toys available to all children.
